I had a free hour so I recorded this much. Unmixed, unmastered, just a quick panning and EQ preset. The melody part (Cello 1 and 1a) will be live video, so it’s a placeholder only.

Not much time to work on it but this morning I started taking it down for 5 cellos in Sibelius, my sheet music software. 6 pages.
On page 5+6, Had an idea to do the final high part in 12/8 (4/4 with triplet feel) and stack a 6/4 feel and a 4/4 with 8th note feel against it. We’ll see if that works.
Generally, I get bored of simple time signatures in rock, so I often change the time signatures and play with long divisions, as in Sleep Token’s The Night Does Not Belong To God which should be in strict 4/4; I did it in 6/8 with long polymeters against it throughout.
Just a typical Saturday Morning…
Woke up, heard a new Linkin Park song, figured out baseline, memorized the words and melody, played it on cello, then multi-tracked it really quickly.
This is my sketch process, so I don’t care about the quality of my playing or if I’m hitting the right notes; this is how I sketch these arrangements - it’s very much like I’m intentionally sketching in pen, no pencil eraser :)

Starting the process.
Sorry, it was suuuuper hot and humid in my place…
